About this deal

Great price for these flights to Calgary from Edinburgh, decent free luggage allowance too (1 personal bag + 1 carry-on). Plenty of dates at £290ish via OTA's but £20 more to book direct (which I'd recommend).

Calgary is certainly good for Banff (just over an hour's drive). I did a Canada trip late in May / early June last year and the weather was brilliant. If you have a few weeks you could get a one-way internal flight to Vancouver (last year I paid around £100 including a hold case on WestJet), hire a car at Vancouver airport and do a tour of Vancouver, Vancouver island, and then the Rockies/Alberta (Whistler, Jasper, Icefields Parkway, Lake Louise, Banff etc) and then drop the car back at Calgary airport for the return home. I'd endorse this. It's actually worth going over just to do the Icefields Parkway area and taking time doing so. It just depends on how much you want to try and squeeze in and how tired you want to be at the end. Plenty of options. Accommodation won't be cheap though and is often booked well in advance.

Probably too late for me to organise but what are Westjet like out of curiosity?

I flew Westjet from Edi to Calgary last year, planes were 787-9 dreamliners from 2022 so everything was in good condition, food was good got some free snacks and blankets / eye masks / earphones for inflight entertainment.

Calgary airport was also super smooth to arrive in.

Not flown on 10 years due to sudden adult onset flight terrors in later life (it's a real thing) but been doing hypnotherapy and almost ready to go again. Quite fancy Canada so thanks for this

If you haven't been on a plane for 10 years do you really want your first flight to be 8 hours across the ocean?

Great value for across the pond and not LHR. I've flown transatlantic from Edinburgh before, its nice not to have a connection. Airport is mega busy in mornings though, I'm talking queues 20 deep for a coffee and next to no seats anywhere.

They've used a picture of Spirit Island which is also in Alberta, but it's not Calgary itself. Close enough for those wanting to visit though!

    Good price BTW, heat (edited)

Not really a deal, it’s been this price for months.

Heading over next month for 5 weeks and will be paying over £900 return which includes a case and n the hold. Will be flying Westjet as well. Cheap flights are a thing of the past!
Good price op for anyone going for a short break especially if going to the Rockies.

Sadly so, but enjoy your time. Having done many open jaws and mispriced flights over the years which are becoming more difficult to come by

Missus and I were just in Mexico and flew domestic there - couldn't believe the cost of a flight between Mx City to Merida in the Yucatan (similar to a flight from Inverness to London distance-wise). We booked months in advance and got about the best price available before and after (wasn't far off our prem eco flight with BA from Gla to Mexico City lol). Would jump on this but no time....grr.

thanks for the post. It gave me inspiration to book this Edinburgh - Calgary route to do the Calgary Stampede and Banff in July for 8 nights. Paid £575 for flight considering peak season (hand luggage only) amazing deal

Keep up the fantastic posts! 👌
