It's been this price on the app for atleast the last 6 months

It has, but it doesn't hurt to list a deal again that may have been forgot about.

You and I know it's been this price for 6 months, but I guarantee someone will see this today and have no idea.

Wireless security cameras are such a bad idea. "Convenience over security".

Wired cameras will always beat wireless, but no system is perfect.

Some people may live in rented accommodation and aren't allowed to drill holes to run wires, some people may not be confident enough to install it themselves, some people may not have the money to pay someone else to install it.

I'd imagine most people going wireless will know that they are choosing convenience over security.

At home I have both, I have a wired system recording to a NVR 24/7 and I have a wireless system for motion alerts.

If a criminal wants to get into your house, they'll do it regardless of what CCTV system you have, if you have wired they'll just wear balaclavas and spray paint the lens or cut the cables.

I'd imagine most CCTV systems are installed to try and deter opportunitist thieves. Any organised gangs which have WiFi jammers aren't going to go home and call it a day just because your CCTV system is wired. They'll be getting into your house regardless.

How much of an upgrade is this on Homebase 2? Trying to work out if it is worth the upgrade.

The Eufy Homebase 3 is the successor to the Eufy Homebase 2. This base station is the brain of many Eufy cameras and doorbells. Compared to the Homebase 2, the Homebase 3 has a number of advantages. It can record 24/7 and has an expandable memory. You can expand with a hard disk. The new Homebase is also smarter, as it has facial recognition, person recognition, vehicle recognition and a self-learning algorithm. This base station also has a more stable connection than the Eufy Homebase 2. You connect the Homebase to your router, after which it establishes a stable connection with your Eufy devices.

Glad I didn't take the offer. Two of my three cameras don't hold a charge anymore after less than 2 years! Going to get a new powered set up now instead. (edited)

amzn.eu/d/d…T7Y would be my suggestion. Frequently on offer too.

I have eufy 2 and the bell never chimes or records in the app - useless.

    Hi All,

I recently bought the E340 Doorbell & am also considering an outdoor camera like the S220/S230 etc - is this Homebase 3 compatible with these & more importantly, is it required/needed or better to have it than not?

    Many Thanks!

The link below states all cameras compatible with the homebase 3...

    support.eufy.com/s/article/Centralize-Your-Security-Ecosystem-with-HomeBase-3

Homebase 3 isn't required for the majority of the cameras, most will work independently within the Eufy app. Only worth considering the HB3 if you want subscription free local storage that isn't in the form of an SD card inside the camera and you want certain AI features like person recognition etc. (edited)

I'm tempted but I only have the 1 Eufy doorbell and the Chime with an SD card in it so I'm not sure it offers me much over what I already have. I guess if you have several cameras it's definitely worth it though.

Does this make it quicker to connect and view your doorbell video feed? It's currently so slow with huge delay
    CyDoNiA's avatar
I wouldn't expect it to make a massive improvement but I'm not 100% sure.
  9. howay's avatar
is there any point if you only have the newesy doorbell? Or it is if you have multiple cameras as well?
    CyDoNiA's avatar
Probably not worth it I think if you only have a single doorbell.

Just note it's 16GB with an upgradable internal harddrive. You'd still need to purchase an additional harddrive if you wish to increase the storage capacity.

Can these store to a NAS ?
    SeanRTK's avatar
    Author
If you want to store the videos to a NAS you don't need a homebase3. You can set the cameras up to record directly to the NAS if the cameras are compatible.

I'm not 100% sure myself but I don't think there is any way to get the homebase 3 to duplicate the videos to a NAS drive.

My understanding is that if you have cameras connected to Homebase 2 they all have to be repaired to Homebase 3, as there is no migration path. This might be a complete pain, particularly if you have a lot of cameras and they are a pain to get to.
  14. DDH's avatar
One downside to this is that it isn’t HomeKit compatible whereas the Homebase 2 is
