About this deal

Couple of colours available.

Back again at £11.99

Speedy USB C drive that also converts to USB A

There were some claims on the last deal that were doubting the speeds claimed by SanDisk. Well here are the speeds I got when I tested it. 390 read & 72 write. Which is fast for a £12 drive.

The 256 is £22.99 and 512gb for £38.98 so even better value.

Pendrives are the most unreliable storages so I would be afraid to buy larger for more money....SSDs are much better but HDDs are the best.

These are great! I got a 64gb version last week from Argos for a tenner and was very surprised by the Android app for OTG connectivity - it's actually really useful beyond being a file manager.

    🔥🧨

Heat added - and that's just for including the write speed in your post :-)
Edit: incidentally, the description on Amazon claims write speed of 150MB/s, so thanks for giving the *actual* speed.
    The 256MB claims 400MB/s and the 512MB 150MB/s
Be interesting to find what the 256M actually is . . . (edited)

The product sheet says the following, so I hope the 512GB is as fast as the others. Hoping the words "up to" aren't doing some heavy lifting here!

    [32GB] High-performance USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive
with up to 150MB/s read speeds.
    [64GB] High-performance USB 3.2 Gen 1 drive
with up to 300MB/s read speeds.
    [128GB-1TB] High-performance USB 3.2 Gen 1
drive with up to 400MB/s ultra-fast read speeds.

Got mine today. Just did a speed test, it's ok, will make it easier to move files across mobile devices.52661965-zo8vU.jpg
Did another test with 4GiB file to see if there would be a slight throttle but it seems consistent.

I just found someone posted the 256GB CrystalDiskMark results in a previous deal here.

Does anyone know why the 256GB version has slower read speeds than the 128GB?

    256GB: 161MB/s
    128GB: 390MB/s
    Reebok.Ron's avatar
I would guess that the 256GB is a single chip and the 128GB is two chips (2 x 64GB) which if the reads are interleaved effectively doubles the speed of a single chip

Told my dad NOT to use a 'Pen' drive as Storage/Backup, as they can fail. He didn't listen, it failed – he blamed me. Classic.

PS. I'm probably going to order one of these (128 Lavender) for Transfers, thanks OP (edited)

Same can be said for Crucial P3 SSDs. Had 2 fail out of 4.

    do these get hot ?
    hmsq82's avatar
yeah they got warm, when I did some write and read tests, but same as other usb drives I have.

Nice little deal OP - Picked one up just for the car for music storage. The speed is good enough and look a decent deal

    Thanks again

OP title is incorrect, it's 400MBps not 400Mbps, massive 8X difference!

ssd in a case not better?

Sure, if you want faster speeds, to spend more and are happy to carry around something much bigger - this thing is pretty tiny. (edited)

    That write speed is pants.

That write speed is pretty much standard for decent USB flash drives up to 3 times the money.

If that classifies as pants then it is pants.

Random write speeds are rather low...
    Willy_Wonka's avatar

They are not low for a sub £30 small USB flash drive.

They are slow if you compare it to a SATA or PCIe SSD speeds.

Tempted to buy one of these for my Quest 3, I can store and then watch 3D films etc. direct from the drive rather than having to transfer the files.
    flux's avatar
Does that work natively on the quest3? on the 2 meta disabled the feature and you had to side-load apps to bypass it.

These are great. Picked up the 64GB from Lidl for £4.99 in the 50% Tech Sale. . Sits on my key ring, Easy for files to move from the phone and transfer to PC

    Can't you just use Bluetooth?

These are great but it's not much more for the all metal version, which if you want it to last is essential, every plastic one I've had physically broke.
